Frequently asked questions

If you’re hiring a skip for the first time, or just want to double-check what’s allowed, you’re in the right place. Below are answers to the most frequently asked questions we get at Panda.

General:

It’s simple. Click one of the ‘Get latest prices’ links on this website or give us a call on 0333 0570 200. Choose your skip size, pick a delivery date, and give us your address details. That’s all there is to it.

Our skip range includes the following sizes (availability differs by depot location) so, you’ll always find the perfect size for your project.:

  • 2 yard
  • 4 yard
  • 6 yard
  • 8 yard
  • 10 yard
  • 12 yard
  • 14 yard
  • 16 yard
  • 20 yard RoRo
  • 40 yard RoRo

14 days from the day we drop it off. If you need more time, call us at least 24 hours before the collection date. The charge will be £10+ VAT for every extra week. If you fill your skip before the 14 days are up, call or email and we’ll pick it up as soon as we can.

Make sure the area where you want it dropping is clear and there are no obstructions. That includes the path from the road to where the skip will be placed including:

  • Drain covers
  • Cables
  • Overhanging tree branches

Choose the right place for your skip. Gardens are okay, but it’s best not to place the skip on soft ground. A driveway or garden area with a solid floor is a better location. If you’re not sure about access or where to place your skip, just get in touch.

We offer a range of skip sizes, so you’ll never have to pay for more space than you need. It can be hard to imagine how much waste each skip size holds, so to make it easier, think about how many bin bags of rubbish you need to clear.

Our full range of skips hold approximately this many bin bags:

  • 2 yard skip – up to 20 bin bags
  • 4 yard skip – up to 40 bin bags
  • 8 yard skip – up to 80 bin bags
  • 12 yard skip – up to 120 bin bags

Fill it until it’s level with the top of the skip. Don’t pile rubbish over the top as we won’t be able to load it onto the truck and we’ll have to charge you for a wasted journey.

Yes, as long as there’s access for our delivery vehicle. But beware – skips are very heavy and may damage your lawn if placed on the grass. Our truck will also need access to the resting spot, which could also harm your lawn.

Yes, providing it doesn’t violate any road/traffic rules e.g. double yellow lines. You can’t block a public footpath, so there must be ample space on the road to place the skip without it being intrusive to road users.

If you want your skip dropped off on the road, we’ll need to arrange a permit with your local council for their fee.

The Environment Agency’s Persistent Organic Pollutants (POPs) Regulation means we can no longer accept upholstered furniture in our skips. Upholstered furniture often contains POPs and must now be handled separately from all other waste. This includes (but is not limited to):

  • Sofas
  • Sofa beds
  • Armchairs
  • Kitchen and dining room chairs
  • Stools and footstools
  • Home office chairs
  • Futons
  • Bean bags, floor, and sofa cushions

If you have any domestic seating to dispose of, call 0333 0570 200 and we’ll tell you whether you need our ‘man and van’ service instead of hiring a skip.

We take our environmental responsibilities extremely seriously and go above and beyond to protect the planet. Our zero waste to landfill policy means we promise to recycle or repurpose as much of the waste that goes into our skips as possible.

Your skip will go to one of our recycling facilities where all the recyclable materials will be separated and sent to a specialist plant for further processing. Anything left over will go to an energy recovery plant where it can be used to generate green electricity.
